My work: I aim to make language a complementary part of the interface for any application (e.g. from desktop spreadsheets to mobile apps). This involves solving a range of fascinating challenges through new methods in Artificial Intelligence and Crowdsourcing.

News

April, 2022: Congratulations to Charlie and Laura for their ACL and NAACL papers, on how to personalise language models for new users [paper], and what paraphrases can tell us about contextual embeddings models like BERT [paper].

December, 2021: Our team has been awarded a DARPA grant as part of the SHADE AIE program. I’m collaborating with Jordan Boyd-Graber (Maryland), Brandon Stewart (Princeton), and Jonathan May (USC / ISI)

September, 2021: Congratulations to Laura and Andrew for their EMNLP and Findings of EMNLP papers, on the stability of embeddings in different languages [paper], and an architecture for interpretable models built out of smaller, more focused models [paper].

August, 2021: I’ve been awarded a DECRA Fellowship by the Australian Research Council.
